Standing tall at a height of 43 feet, Arjuna’s Penance is a huge open-air bas-relief monolith. It has a history that goes back to the mid-7th century. The Arjuna’s Penance is around 96 feet long and 43 feet high. The monolith is often called ‘The Descent of Ganga’. The massive stone carving is made on two huge boulders.

Named after the hero of the great Indian epic Mahabharata, it wonderfully displays more than 100 figures of gods, various bords, animales, celestial beings. It also displays saints and human beings. These figures capture the eyes of the onlookers for their vitality.
